    Consultations for New Moms

Loretta Haycook-Haught is an International Board Certified Lactation and Breastfeeding Support Consultant. With over 30 years of experience, she has risen to the top of her field, passionately helping new moms through the challenges of breastfeeding. From early new mom breastfeeding concerns to long-term lactation support, she has empowered thousands of families on their breastfeeding journey. Loretta offers expert care at no required cost—because she believes no new mom should face a financial barrier when it comes to giving their baby a healthier start.

    The Basics

    The Goal

An efficient, effective, comfortable feed is the goal. This means comfortable latch, effective milk removal (baby gaining weight), and all within 10 to 20 minutes at the breast.

Is it Mom or is it baby?

For Mom: are you feeding frequently enough (8 to 10 feeds every 24 hours)? Are YOU getting enough hydration and rest? How is your milk supply?

For baby: is baby at the breast frequently enough? Is baby gaining weight (0.5 to 1 ounce weight gain every 24 hours for the first few weeks)? Is baby having 4 to 6 stools and wet diapers every 24 hours? If not... is it structure or function? CAN baby remove milk?

    Structure vs Function

Are tight neck muscles (torticollis) or "ties" (tongue and/or lip / ankyloglossia) preventing baby from getting milk effectively? Baby needs a knowledgeable assessment to determine the root cause of the problems.

    Tongue Tie (Ankyloglossia)

A tie is normal tissue in the mouth that is tight or short and restricts mobility, making it very difficult for baby to latch, suck, and remove milk adequately.

    Bottom Line

Baby needs to be gaining weight, and Mom needs to be building and maintaining milk supply. Pumping and bottle-feeding expressed breast milk can help with both of these things while we figure out the issue at hand and easy and comfortable breastfeeding is attained.

    From Loretta

I discovered the joys and benefits of breastfeeding with my own two children. From the start, I was committed to offering them the health, cognitive, and immune advantages that come with breastfeeding. But what I hadn’t anticipated was how profoundly therapeutic it would be—for both of us. That deep post-partum bond, the quiet moments of connection, and the mutual comfort created something truly special.

Once my own breastfeeding journey ended, I felt called to support other new moms interested in giving this same gift to their children. I immersed myself in years of study, earned multiple certifications, and have never stopped learning. For over three decades, I’ve provided expert breastfeeding support and lactation support to moms from all backgrounds, helping them feel empowered and informed as they navigate the ups and downs of new mom breastfeeding.

After 30+ years supporting new moms in hospital settings, I’m entering a new chapter—one that allows me to expand beyond the bedside and connect with families everywhere. That’s why I launched this website. While breastfeeding can be beautiful, it can also be challenging. I’m here to walk alongside you through every question, concern, and milestone. I’ve seen it all—and helped thousands of moms make it to the other side with confidence and peace.

    Testimonials

Loretta Haycook-Haught, International Board Certified Lacation and Breastfeeding Support Consultant

"For the last year since meeting Loretta, I would tell all my friends who were delivering that she was the woman they needed to see! She helped me so much when my son was born; my milk wasn't coming in, I was an anxious mess, and I would have 100% given up on breastfeeding if it weren't for her. The hospital tried to push formula on me, and she gave me so much peace and comfort in my decision to continue breastfeeding. I appreciate how helpful she was not just while I was in the hospital but for the months of continued support after - allowing me to come back and do weighed feedings, giving advice on mastitis, and encouraging me to trust my intuition. I'm over a year into exclusively breastfeeding and Loretta is a major reason why!"                                                                                               - Jill C. 5/29/25

"Working with Loretta was a transformative experience. From our first call, she made me feel at ease and listened to my concerns. Her personalized approach helped me overcome challenges I didn't think I could manage. With her guidance, I learned effective latching techniques and strategies to increase my milk supply. I went from feeling stressed to enjoying the bonding moments with my baby. I can't thank her enough for her support."                                                     - Sara L. 2/28/25

"I first met with Loretta in 2021 after having my first son, and she taught me so much about breastfeeding. I saw her again in 2023 with my second son, and she was the only person that listened to my concerns with him. He was having breathing issues and not feeding well and one at the hospital would listen to me - except for Loretta. I know how much she truly loves what she does and the women she gets to support. I think about Loretta often and how much of an impact she had on my life. I appreciate her guidance when I was in the hospital and her support after I left, as well. Thank you so much for all you've done for my family!"                                                          - Emily R. 3/10/25

"I can’t say enough good things about Loretta! Her calming presence and extensive knowledge made a world of difference. She taught me techniques that not only improved my baby's latch but also boosted my confidence. Now breastfeeding is a joyful part of my daily routine. I wholeheartedly recommend her to all new parents!"                                                                             - Colleen H. 2/09/25

"After the birth of my first child, I faced numerous breastfeeding challenges that left me feeling defeated. Fortunately, a friend who had worked with Loretta in the past recommended I reach out to her. Loretta turned everything around for me. I think she knows everything about breastfeeding there is, but she was able to give me tailored advice that was specific to my situation. With her help, I learned how to decipher my baby's screaming into her needs. Loretta taught me how to properly latch and manage my baby's feeding schedule. I now have a positive breastfeeding experience that I cherish. I am so thankful for her expertise and support."                                         - Julie S. 1/30/25
